Daily Yopp! - 2.5.17 Superbowl Edition

Superbowl Activism!

This Yopp! is directed at those of us who plan to watch the Superbowl. A quick run down on things to watch for.

1. New England Patriots (Team Trump) vs. Atlanta Falcons (Team Resistance)

If you need to choose a team to root for, then the Atlanta Falcons are clearly the one to pick. For starters, Patriot quarterback Tom Brady was/is a big Trump supporter. Furthermore, the city of Atlanta is represented in Congress by John Lewis who is a leader of the Resistance. Here's a couple articles on this topic:

SB Nation: Why the Super Bowl is Donald Trump vs. the City of Atlanta

There Are So Many Reasons to Root Against ‘Trump’s Team’ in the Super Bowl

Don't feel bad if you are already a Patriots fan. It's just a football game. We still love you.

CTA: Root for the Atlanta Falcons

2. The Beer Bowl:  Trump Beer vs. Resistance Beer

It's always good to vote with your wallet, so if you are a beer drinker, here's a list of the Pro-Trump (avoid) and Pro-Resistance beers (buy). If your brew of choice didn't make the list, you can assume it's neutral. Please let me know if I missed anything and I'll update it.

Pro-Trump Beer: CoorsMillerYuengling

Anti-Trump or Progressive Beer Options:

Neutral: Any beer produced in Mexico, Canada, Australia, China, Germany or any other country that Trump is ticking off. A growler from a local brewery (check their politics first). Avoid British beer until PM May starts making better choices.

CTA: Choose a Pro-Resistance Beer

3. Anheuser-Busch Commercial with Pro-Immigrant Theme

The buzz is that there will be a commercial for Anheuser-Busch that has a decidedly pro-immigrant theme.
CTA: Watch for the ad and then post on Facebook and Twitter about how awesome Anheuser-Busch is for supporting immigrants. Then drink a Budweiser.

4. Lady Gaga's "Spirit of Equality" Halftime Show

Outspoken Trump critic Lady Gaga is headlining the halftime show. She's kept details about her plans under wraps, but given her fan base, she has little to lose in taking advantage of this very public platform.

CTA: Watch the halftime show and post wildly on Facebook and Twitter if she does something notable.

5. Possible Protest At or Near Super Bowl

According to various sources, there may be some protests planned in connection with the Super Bowl.

AOL News: Report: 'Secretive' planning underway for anti-Trump protests during Super Bowl weekend

CTA: Join the protest if you are in Houston. FB/Tweet about it if you are not.

6. Security Risks at Houston

Sad that I have to say this, but the potential for violence or terrorism at an event like this is high. There's not much we can do to prevent such things except being aware. One thing I can say with near certainty is that at some point in the not too distant future, our nation will experience some sort of terrorist attack. I pray that We the People can keep our centers when that happens because that event would likely galvanize support for this kleptocracy.

Super Bowl Security Heightened Amid Ongoing Trump Protests

CTA: If you're one who prays, then send positive energy to Houston. Read (or reread) about the Reichstag Fire and its impact.

That's all for today. Enjoy the game if you watch it. If not, then enjoy your Sunday.

Yours in Solidarity.
